What to do When MOvember Gets In the Way of Your Relationship

Every girl loves a guy that’s dedicated to caring for his facial hair, and during Movember, using the undeniable power of the ‘stache to show dedication to men’s health is a noble feat. That being said, the decision to grow a moustache is a very personal one that can have ramifications on multiple aspects of life – especially when you’re in a relationship.

I’ll be the first to admit that not every woman loves the idea of a moustache on her man, and may only agree to the trial period of Movember to see if she will fall in love with his new facial fur. Throw in the fact that it’s for men’s health, and we’re all ready to make the sacrifices involved. What kind of sacrifices do we mean? Well, grooming your facial hair is a multi-faceted commitment, none of which should be taken lightly.

Growing a moustache from scratch (or any facial hair, for that matter) can be uncomfortable and itchy, especially in the early stages. This may mean a little less nookie in the beginning days of your moustache, especially if your girl has sensitive skin. Make sure you moisturize frequently and be sensitive to your loved one’s needs, but remember you are doing this for a reason. And don’t be discouraged — once the hair grows softer and less coarse, after about a month, you may be surprised to find your lady’s hands all over it as she professes her undying love and commitment for your new look.

So what do you do during the first month of itchiness? Try to find other ways to keep your lady happy, moisturize and condition frequently, and try to show your love and gratitude in other ways. Gifts can go a long way during this time for both parties – new grooming kits are a thoughtful gesture for your guy and flowers or pearl jewelry can go a long way for your girl.

What to do When MOvember Gets In the Way of Your RelationshipHang in there and stay committed – you’re doing this for a great cause, Grow For It!
