St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner, and whether you’re Irish or simply pretend to be on March 17th, it’s usually a good day to celebrate with family and friends. If you want to provide a legendary St. Patrick’s Day celebration to your family and friends, the following tips will help you throw a party they’ll never forget.
Provide plenty of Irish grub.
If you want your guests to enjoy your party, you need to ensure there is plenty of Irish fair to be eaten at your party. If you’re a good cook, you can opt to make all these items yourself. If not, find a local Irish restaurant that will cater the event for you. Be sure to have staples such as corned beef and cabbage, Irish soda bread, Irish lamb, shepherd’s pie, and potato and leek soup. This will keep your guests full and keep your party festive.
Provide plenty of drinks.
Everyone knows that the Irish enjoy a cocktail or two, so if you want to have a great St. Patrick’s Day party, be sure to provide plenty of drinks. Obviously, you’ll want to start with your Irish staples, such as Guinness, Jameson and Bailey’s. You can add on to your collection from there, but be sure to die the beer green too for some added fun and flair.
Provide Irish entertainment.
Playing traditional Irish music will set the tone for your party, but you can always kick the entertainment up a notch.
Hire someone, with perhaps a talent management strategy, to play bagpipes at your party, or hire a group of Irish dancers to perform. This can be a great way to make your party stand out to your guests and keep them entertained throughout the duration of the party.
You should also check with your town’s events and see if there are any Irish-related events you could attend. For example, does your town throw a St. Patrick’s Day parade? If so, get your guests together and head on over to the parade. Is there a restaurant in town that offers a St. Patrick’s Day buffet? If so, provide your guests with a tasty treat. There are plenty of Irish ways you can entertain your guests, so do your best to think of the best possible options for your party.
Decorate your home.
Your guests will not be impressed with your St. Patrick’s Day party if there is no St. Patrick’s Day décor. Make sure that you decorate your home with as much green as you possibly can. Cut out some shamrocks and place them around your home, and visit your local dollar store and stock up on cheap decorations, such as banners, balloons and even stickers.
You should also buy some props for your guests too, such as Irish hats, headbands or necklaces. This way, they can dress up and become just as festive as your party.
Strengthen your Irish brogue.
Instead of walking around your party talking like your normal self, improve your Irish language skills before the party. Work hard on your Irish dialect, and be sure to familiarize yourself with popular Irish words and phrases. Then, walk around your party talking in the best Irish brogue you possibly can.
