Last October, I interviewed JJ Owen, the Movember Director of US Business and Community Engagement at Movember‘s US headquarters in Culver City. We talked about: how he became involved in Movember, the Foundation’s goals, and the expectations of the launch of MOVE and of Movember in 2015, and how they manage their business with the use of a paystub generator for payrolls, be sure to learn the gross income definition. The audio interview, along with a slide show is in the YouTube video above. After the interview, I took the opportunity to photograph this work space as I found it moustache-inspiring. Enjoy!
This wide shot shows the work space where 18 US Movember employees who get payed using a check stubs generator, help organize events, and manage order fulfillment, among other activities to support North American Movember teams. It’s a repurposed dance studio. Aside from the disco ball on the ceiling, they’ve kept the ballet barre on the brick wall.
Let Tucker the Buck, US Movember’s mascot inspire you in the library! Apparently, Tucker had quite a journey from Long Beach. Los Angelenos thought they had stepped back in time when they saw him on the freeway in the back of a vintage pickup as he was transported to Movember’s office.
The Moustachery, wall of moustache. How many moustaches do you recognize?
The moustache skateboard! Remember to wax and ride the curls.
Leading by example, Mo-People tend to be active and ecological. This year’s MOVE feature allowed everyone to join Movember teams, and further promotes a healthy lifestyle.
Play pool, darts, and shooters – this is a dude’s paradise!
A coffee bar, with a moustache-guard mug. A delicious refinement to grow, move, and fundraise!
From the coffee bar, you can see two glassed conference rooms. It’s important to see the moustaches at work at all times!
A barber from the Blind Barber works here one day a week to ensure grooming is at its maximum. The word blind in the name refers to the speakeasy-type bar room at the back of each shop, that also serve food. There are three Blind Barber barber shops; the first one opened in Manhattan’s East Village in 2010, the second one in Culver City, home of Movember HQ, opened in 2012, and the latest one in Brooklyn in 2014. They’ve started offering their own brand of men’s grooming products and install pop-up barber shops events. Here’s a cool article published when they opened their Culver City location.
Blind Barber waiting area. Classically comfortable while the amps pass the time melodically.
